Isometric PixelArt Simply Defined
:thumb56446680:
Isometric PixelArt has been defined by many people in many different ways to explain what it is and how it is created. This is my attempt and I intend to keep it as simple and concise as possible.
What it is not.
Isometric PixelArt is not just something that looks like 3D or a perspective drawing.
What it is.
It is a way to create a scene, an object or a character by following one very basic and simple rule…..start with two pixels across and one pixel up to build your picture. That is Isometric PixelArt in essence.
When you look at a genuine piece of Isometric Pixelart it appears as though you are looking at it from above, from one side and the front at an angle. Here is a really wonderful example of why this view is the way it is.
Buildings tend to make up a large part of Isometric PixelArt because they are right angle objects and lend themselves very well to Isometrics
Characters seen in games are often Isometric and still have that same look of from above, side and front view from an angle. Sometimes you will see a character only from the front or back but still it will appear as though you are viewing them from above. If you ever look at a character and they appear on the same level as you, they are not Isometric.
Isometric sprites
Non-Isometric Sprites
Objects still have to obey the same rules in Isometrics….looking from above, from the side and the front at an angle.

bbrunomoraes - PixelArtist
What a fun gallery of work bbrunomoraes (https://www.deviantart.com/bbrunomoraes) has created. So many delightful pieces.
When I saw his delicious animation "Awww here it goes!" it was just crying out to be a DD. So in went my suggestion and fortunately up went the DD!
This artist is no stranger to DDs keep an eye on his work, there may be many more DDs in the future.
Please press onto this DD featured animation....
......and a few more pieces of his work, it is so hard to choose from his gallery there are so many appealing works hidden there, some are whimsical animations. Well worth a visit and a watch if you are not yet doing so.
This is a group of the Artists favourites
orange-magik Pixel Artist
What a joy to return to dA after nearly ten years to find such delicious pixel art.
I waded into the gallery tonight expecting to trip over piles of ripped sprites, digital drawings and the normal junk that is dumped into the Pixel Art gallery for the sake of a more appropriate gallery. "it's got pixels so it must be pixel art". No folks, Pixel Art is a very specific art form, not a shitty little digital art drawing.
I was entranced by a new piece of work uploaded by orange-magik. What a delight! It is lovely to see his work has been recognized with well deserved DDs. He lists a low color count with his work. Looking at it under high magnif

Thank you very much for all your kind thoughts and good wishes, to save a bit of work I won't go through and answer all comments individually...forgive please?
Some wanted to know about the blackout...I have no idea what caused it...I have never even fainted before. I am now going to have to have heaps of medical tests done because until I get the all clear from the doctors, I am not permitted to drive. I still feel a bit under the weather so it will still be a bit hit and miss here for the moment. :)
Yep...no joke folks, I blacked out driving my car yesterday on my way to do the shopping, hit a tree and ended up in hospital overnig

I would love to link this in a guide I'm doing for people who are just starting out with pixel art. If I could do that? It would link right to this journal.
Let me know, thanks!
