We all need to lift the PixelArt Gallery out of having a reputation of being full of just Fanart, ripped/recoloured/spliced sprites and doodles.

PixelArt is a wonderful art form and deserves to have a greater appreciation here at dA.

I am trying to do this by encouraging people to please put all Fanart into the Fanart Gallery. Currently the Fanart Gallery will not accept GIF images so you will need to save your Fanart as a PNG image. If it is an animated piece of Fanart please put it into DigitalArt>Miscellaneous>Animation until the Fanart Gallery can accept GIF images.

When a Gallery Angel reports a piece of work from the PixelArt Gallery as a rip, please be sure it is a rip. If it is not a rip you are causing a greater burden for the policy department having to spend time reviewing work incorrectly reported, as well as causing distress for the artist.

The way I report a rip is when the person has told me they have ripped it from a resource site or some other area ....basically because people admit to it being a rip in their artist comments.

If there is no admission of a rip but you know the piece to be Fanart, please just report it as a miscategorization and point it toward Fanart.


Original Sprites

Please don't report original sprites, read the artist's comments or google the sprite's name and see if it is Fanart before reporting it as a rip or miscat. The PixelArt Gallery warmly welcomes original sprites and would like to encourage more people to create original sprites, so let's be very careful we do not harass original spriters by reporting their work.

A special note to creators of original sprites, please add something about your work being entirely original from scratch in your artist comments. This will help the Gallery Angels as they go about their work.

Here is just one of our awesome original Spriters on dA, to save me time searching, please link me to some more original sprites/spriters and I will add them to this journal. It will help me as a news article should be done about this. Let's celebrate original sprites and spriters at dA.
